Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about PIXALARM: deployment, compatibility, security and support.
What is PIXALARM?
PIXALARM is a range of real-time video processing servers and virtual machines, designed and developed in France by INPIXAL. Each server integrates multiple image analysis algorithms: perimeter detection, object tracking, image enhancement, counting and blurring.
What camera types are supported?
PIXALARM interfaces with all camera types: IP (ONVIF, RTSP/RTP), analog (PAL/HD-SDI), thermal and visible. All standard codecs are supported (H264, H265, MPEG2/4, JPEG, JPEG2000, etc.).
How many cameras per server?
Capacity depends on the server and the algorithms enabled. A single PIXALARM server can process dozens of video streams simultaneously. Contact us for a recommendation tailored to your project.
What is the false alarm rate?
The perimeter detection algorithm analyzes scene geometry to differentiate vehicles, animals and humans (even crawling). The false alarm rate is very low, even in difficult outdoor conditions (wind, rain, moving vegetation, shadows).
Is PIXALARM on-premise or cloud-based?
PIXALARM is designed for on-premise deployment. Servers are installed in your infrastructure and process video streams locally, with no cloud dependency. Virtual machine deployments are also possible.
Which VMS are compatible?
PIXALARM communicates with existing ecosystems via dry contacts, SCP, SFTP, VMS protocols, emails, sirens, MODBUS, RSYSlog and a RESTful API (JSON). Integration with most VMS on the market is possible.
What is the cybersecurity posture?
PIXALARM includes SSL encryption, LDAP user management, a secure RESTful API, and no cloud service dependency. Local data processing limits network exposure. The range is designed for sensitive environments (defense, energy, critical sites).
How is detection configured?
Configuration is done through the built-in web interface, with no special knowledge required. You define your zones of interest and masks, then adjust detection parameters. Initial setup takes a few minutes per camera.
What warranty and support is provided?
PIXALARM comes with a 3-year hardware warranty. Technical support is provided by the INPIXAL team based in Rennes, France. Support and maintenance contracts tailored to your needs are available on request.
Does PIXALARM support thermal cameras?
Yes. PIXALARM interfaces with thermal, visible, IP, analog and HD-SDI cameras. The detection algorithm adapts to any camera type, regardless of resolution.
What anti-drone capabilities?
Paired with a PTZ turret, PIXALARM provides real-time drone detection and tracking (PIXALARM-EYETRACK solution). The result of 2 years of R&D and the fusion of 5 algorithms including AI, the tracker can follow any target type, even at high speed. Connection is via Pelco, ONVIF or proprietary protocols.
